My research draws on social science to examine what role technology can play in the management of chronic disorders. I am particularly interested in the impact technology has on treatment efficacy, issues of identity and social stigma, and support relationships. By understanding the experiences of individuals with chronic disorders, and their interactions with technology, I am working to inform the design of effective, usable, likable, and adoptable systems. My focus is currently on children with autism and adults with mental illness.
